The American Trade Hotel is centrally located with a square garden plaza at its front door step, with nightlife and restaurants surrounding it completely. Arriving at the hotel from the International Airport will depend on the time of day and can take anywhere from 25 to 120 minutes as Casco Viejo is a popular destination in the evenings and weekends. The lobby is beautiful and boasts nearly 20′ ceilings, a check in desk, bar, and full-service restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The rooms throughout the hotel take you back to what it felt like in 1550 but add the modern amenities of marble clad rain showers, a Juliet balcony or a small place for two chairs; and of course – air conditioning! The large king size beds are plush with fluffed down pillows, and thin soft cotton sheets to complete a perfect night of sleep. A full Mini Bar, and ample closet space will hold all your personal belongings for a week if needed. Turn down service brought special treats like milk and cookies for Christmas, showing the special attention to detail in your home away from home.
The Amenities of the hotel include a gym with a pair of treadmills and an elliptical trainer. An outdoor private plaza on the second floor offers a quiet place to relax and read, enjoy breakfast, or an evening cocktail. Just off to the side of the plaza is a Biblioteca stocked with books, lounge chairs – and a table that can be turned into a private dinning experience as well! The third floor pool deck is the most spectacular spot of the hotel without question though. With sweeping views of the old city and the Panama Canal in the Distance, taking in this quite setting while catching some sun with a fresh mojito couldn’t be better.
